Cycling legend Mike Hall, “one of the most famous endurance cyclists in the world,” has died after being hit by a car during a race in Australia, according to TMZ.

The incident took place during the Indian Pacific Wheel Race, which sees cyclists travel from Perth to Sydney. The race was nearing its conclusion when Hall, who was in second place in the race, was hit by a car.

Police are investigating.
