The Secret Service has released the following statement about an incident that took place on Tuesday:

“Today at approximately 4:00 p.m., a Secret Service Special Officer assigned to the Washington Field Office, was involved in an accidental discharge of a weapon while on duty. The employee was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was injured during the incident and no property damage was sustained. There were no Secret Service protectees in proximity of the incident…”
