BARCELONA, SPAIN (ALBOENEWS) — A massive train crash has occurred in Barcelona, Spain, on Friday morning, according to local media.

At least 48 people have been injured, including at least five seriously, according to reports.

UPDATE: The incident occurred when the train didn’t brake as it was pulling into the Francia station in the city center, BBC reports. (3:58 a.m. ET)

Most of those injured were treated on the platform. (3:37 a.m. ET)

There are at least five people in life-threatening condition following the crash, which took place during morning rush hour (2:50 a.m. ET)
