LAS VEGAS (ALBOENEWS) — A police officer has reportedly been shot in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to local media.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon when Las Vegas Metro Police Department officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle in front of a business near the Las Vegas strip.

When officers approached the vehicle, the suspect or suspects fired shots at them, striking one officer.

The officer has been rushed to a local hospital in an unknown condition, according to FOX 5 Las Vegas.

UPDATE: The situation is reportedly an active scene as the suspect is barricaded inside the vehicle.

UPDATE 9:45 p.m. ET: Police confirm to AlBoeNEWS the suspect is dead.
