CARACAS, VENZUELA (ALBOENEWS) — According to AP, a Venezuela governor announced today that at least 37 people have been killed in a raid at a Venezuelan jail.

No more details are known at this time.

UPDATE: The Miami Herald is reporting that the deaths are a result of a clash between the jailers and inmates. Many of the jails in Venezuela are overcrowded and have many gang members.

AP reports that security forces entered the prison with the intention to take back control from the inmates who had seized it weeks ago. At least 14 guards were injured.
