MEXICO CITY (ALBOENEWS) — Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto says the death toll from the quake is now up to five, AP News reports. He says the 8.2-magnitude quake is the biggest in a century for his country.
That death toll can rise once authorities are able to assess the damage across Mexico’s southern coast. Pena Nieto says an initial one million people were without power after the earthquake. This is the largest quake to hit Mexico since the 8.1 Mexico City quake of 1985 and the largest in 100 years.
