HUNTSVILLE, ALABAMA (ALBOENEWS) — Police in Huntsville, Ala., say two separate shooting deaths of elderly women are linked.

One woman, 77, was found with a severe gunshot wound, reports WHNT. She was reported dead after being taken to an area hospital. The second victim, 59, was found shot to death in a home in a nearby same area.

The second woman was discovered after police came across a one-car crash in which the driver was found to be armed and fleeing the scene. It was later discovered that the suspect had stolen the wrecked vehicle from the 59-year-old woman after shooting her.

The other victim was found to have been an acquaintance to the suspect.

The suspect, Otis Mayes, has since been arrested and charged with two counts of Capital Murder.
