HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA (ALBOENEWS) — Police have evacuated a nursing home in Hollywood, Fla., after five deaths resulted from a non-functioning air conditioning system.

Three died while in the facility and another two died after being rushed to a nearby hospital.

NBC6 reports that the building had been without power in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.

UPDATE 1:51PM ET: ABC10 reports that there have now been six deaths. At least 120 people have so far been evacuated.

UPDATE 3:03PM ET: Hollywood police state that they are opening a criminal investigation into the deaths. A repairman has told ABC10 that currently there is no way to fix the AC unit for the nursing home, and as such residents will remain evacuated for now.
