ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI (ALBOENEWS) — Jason Stockley, an ex-officer from St. Louis, has been found not guilty after being tried for first-degree murder.

In 2011, following a high speed chase, Stockley shot and killed Anthony Lamar Smith, 24.

Smith was found to have planted a handgun on Smith after killing him and later claimed that Smith had threatened him with it.

St. Louis authorities are bracing for potential unrest following the acquittal. The New York Times reports that shortly after learning of the news, protesters began to gather outside the courthouse.
