MEXICO CITY, MEXICO (ALBOENEWS) — A magnitude 7.4 earthquake reportedly struck Mexico City, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

UPDATE: USGS has revised their report, saying the earthquake was a magnitude 7.1. (2:36 p.m. ET)

USGS says the earthquake was at a depth of only 51 kilometers, considered to be unusually shallow. (2:47 p.m. ET)

It is being reported that several buildings have collapsed and that large areas of Mexico City are in ruins. (3:14 p.m. ET)

There is a 79% chance of at least 100 fatalities, per the USGS PAGER service. (4:00 p.m. ET)

There are at least 42 people dead in the earthquake, according to government officials. (4:40 p.m. ET)

At least 27 buildings have collapsed according to Mexican President Nieto. (4:49 p.m. ET)

BNO News is now reporting that at least 67 people are now dead. (5:47 p.m. ET)

BNO News reports that 3.8 million people are without power in central Mexico. (6:01 p.m. ET)

AP reports that the death toll has risen to 104. (7:00 p.m. ET)

A State of Emergency has been declared by the Mexican Government. (7:15 p.m. ET)

According to CBC, 134 people are dead, 44 buildings have collapsed, and 3.4 million are without power. (8:16 p.m. ET)

At least 21 children were killed when a school collapsed following the earthquake, AFP reports.
