UNITED STATES (ALBOENEWS) — Equifax CEO and chairman Richard Smith has officially retired, as of Monday, reports CNBC. The move comes after 143 million people had their data stolen from Equifax records, which include credit details and other sensitive personal information.

Replacing Smith as interim CEO will be Paulino do Rego Barros, Jr.

Equifax is currently the subject of multiple federal investigations seeking to identify how the large data breach occurred.
