LAS VEGAS (ALBOENEWS) — This is the official AlBoeNEWS coverage of the October 1st mass shooting in Las Vegas, where at least 59 people have died, and 527 are injured. 45 people remain in critical condition, per AP.
Police responded to reports of an active shooter at a concert in Las Vegas where Jason Aldean was on stage. The crowd at the concert was approximately 30,000 people, and the shooting began as the last song of the night was beginning to play. Shooting from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, the shooter, Stephen Paddock, a wealthy real estate investor, began to fire down upon them with an automatic weapon. Police responded, eventually making their way up to his hotel room after the crowd and hotel had been evacuated. Paddock reportedly then shot himself before they were able to get to him, according to police.
The hotel room in which Paddock was staying had 23 firearms and many rounds of ammunition. Later searches at his home provided that he had 19 more stashed away there, along with explosives and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The Islamic State has claimed the attack, however authorities and U.S. officials have stated that this does not appear to be the work of an extranational parties.
Clark County has been declared under a State of Emergency, and death tolls may rise in the coming days, as many people are still hospitalized from the worst mass shooting in United States’ history.
