SACRAMENTO (ALBOENEWS) — CNN reports that California has passed a law that will lower the penalty for knowingly exposing a sexual partner to HIV without disclosing the information beforehand.

This lowers the offense from a felony to a misdemeanor. Previously, California law stated that punishment for such an offense could be up to 8 years in prison. Now jail time will be a maximum of 6 months.
