AP reports that California is asking the U.S. Government for an additional $7.4 billion to help rebuild after the catastrophic wildfires earlier this year.

The fires that swept through wine country in early October resulted in the deaths of at least 43 people and about 8,900 structures. An official estimate of the total damage has not been assessed yet.
