According to the Saudi-owned media Al-Arabiya, the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense reports that they have intercepted a ballistic missile north-east of Riyadh.

They also claim that the missile was launched from Yemen. Al Jazeera is also reporting the launch.

UPDATE:

  • CNN and AFP are now officially reporting the incident as well.
  • Al Jazeera reports that the Houthi rebels from Yemen have claimed responsibility for the missile launch. They claim that they shot aiming for the King Khalid International Airport. (2:38 p.m. ET)
  • BBC correspondent Nawal Al-maghafi reports that there are reports of multiple heavy airstrikes going on at the Yemeni capital of Sanaa, as well as in Saadah. (7:01 p.m. ET)
