WCTV reports that FSU has suspended all of their fraternities and sororities in the wake of a fraternity member’s death from Friday.
FSU President John Thrasher announced the decision on Monday. 20 year-old Andrew Coffey died on Friday at an off-campus residence. There has been no official cause of death, but alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
There was also a separate arrest for trafficking of cocaine, from a member of a different fraternity than Coffey’s.
Thrasher said in a statement, “For this suspension to end, there will need to be a new normal for Greek Life at the university. There must be a new culture, and our students must be full participants in creating it.”
