A major 7.2-magnitude earthquake has struck southwest of Halabjah, Iraq, according to the USGS. The earthquake struck at about 9:18 p.m. local time, and is expected to cause widespread damage, according to the USGS. (source) 3:15 p.m. ET November 12, 2017


USGS’ PAGER service says there is a 63 percent chance of at least 100 deaths resulting from the earthquake, and an 81 percent chance that the damage will surpass $10 million.  (source) 3:20 p.m. ET November 12, 2017
