A UN panel has agreed on Friday to move ahead in discussing weapons that can kill without any human involvement, as human rights groups are declaring that governments are moving too slowly in their response to the advancements of AI technology. Advocacy groups have warned of things such as “killer robots” and showed a video about the possible uses of them during the meeting.

The UN panel acknowledged that while these robots do not exist yet, defining what they are and how much human interaction would be considered as being “uninvolved” is a key focus of the meeting. (source) 4:40 p.m. ET November 17, 2017
