A new lawsuit filed by a woman in New York alleges that an aide to New York Governor Cuomo sexually harassed and assault her. The lawsuit goes on to say that the Governor knew about it, and did nothing to stop the behavior.
Lisa Marie Carter says that she wrote to the Empire State Development Corp. in the fall of 2015, seeking help for employment. Then-Regional President William “Sam” Hoyt wrote back saying that he could help her find a job. After obtaining her job, Carter alleged that Hoyt began to sexually harass and assault her. She also says that he repeatedly reminded her of the fact that he could take her.
The claims continued to say that Hoyt offered her $50,000 in exchange for her silence, which she signed, unable to afford a lawyer. She tried to directly address the matter with Governor Cuomo’s office, but officials ignored her. The Governor’s office and Hoyt’s lawyers deny the claims. (source) 4:36 p.m. ET November 19, 2017
