A California man is preparing to launch himself in a homemade rocket to prove to the world that the Earth is flat. The rocket itself is made up of scrap metal that the man has found.
Mark Hughes, 61, has planned for the ambitious journey, which will see him being launched 1,800 feet into the air and travelling 500 miles per hour through the Mojave Desert. This is the first step in what Hughes says will be the end goal of getting miles above the Earth, and showing the truth on the shape of our planet. Hughes says that the rocket is steam powered and will be launched from his modified mobile home. (source) 6:37 p.m. ET November 21, 2017
Hughes has been forced to delay his rocket launch due to a federal agency saying that he cannot do it on public land. Therefore, he plans on moving it to sometime next week in a community off of Historic Route 66. “It’s still happening. We’re just moving it three miles down the road,” Hughes told The Washington Post. “This is what happens anytime you have to deal with any kind of government agency.” (source) 2:47 p.m. ET November 25, 2017
