DEVELOPING: Egyptian Lawyer Sentenced for Saying Women in Ripped Jean Should be Raped

A lawyer in Egypt has been sentenced to 3 years in jail after stating on national television that women in ripped jeans should be raped. In previous interviews, he has also denied the Holocaust, and called himself a proud anti-Semite.

Nabih al-Wahsh also was fined 20,000 Egyptian pounds, about $1,130 in U.S. dollars.In the interview, al-Wahsh said the following:

“Are you happy when you see a girl walking down the street with half of her behind showing? I say that when a girl walks about like that, it is a patriotic duty to sexually harass her and a national duty to rape her.” (source) 1:53 p.m. ET December 2, 2017
