Former Illinois Congressman and Presidential candidate in the 1980 election John Anderson has died at the age of 95. He died peacefully in Washington, D.C.

Anderson served 10 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. He tried to run for the Republican nomination for President in 1980, but ended up running as an Independent against Democrat Jimmy Carter and Republican Ronald Reagan.
