Music mogul Russell Simmons has been accused of rape by 3 women, according to a report published by The New York Times.

Four women came forth to talk about Simmons, 3 of which accused the man of raping them. The women, Toni Sallie, Tina Baker, and Drew Dixon, all give tales of working under Simmons, and the series of events that led to the sexual assaults.

Dixon was working at Def Jam Recordings in 1995, helping to oversee an album. But while working there, she experienced sexual harassment at the hands of Simmons, who was her direct supervisor. He would talk graphically about her, and the ways in which she aroused him, regularly exposing himself to her. Later , she says that he raped her in his Manhattan apartment, leading her to quit a short while later.

Baker says that Simmons raped her in the early 90s, when she was a performer and he was her manager. “The second he agreed to work with me, my budget increased, the label was paying more attention to me,” But after the assault, she said, “I went into oblivion.”

Toni Sallie was a music journalist for the magazine Black Radio Executive in 1987. She was working an assignment when she first met Simmons. The two went on a few dates, but eventually broke apart, as Sallie felt they were not a match, but remained in touch and on good terms. One day she was invited to his apartment for a party, but upon arrival, the apartment was empty. Simmons proceeded to push her down onto his bed, fighting each other, and eventually raping her. Sallie says that she was too afraid to report the rape, saying that she “didn’t know how it would turn out.”(source) 6:38 p.m. ET December 13, 2017

A woman has now filed a $5 million lawsuit against Simmons, saying that he raped her. Jennifer Jarosik claims that she was very interested in interviewing Mr. Simmons for a documentary that she was making in 2006, and he agreed to not only participate but also fund the project. Later in 2016, the two met at his L.A. home, and he asked her to have sex with him. She declined, but he then became aggressive, pushing her into a bed and raping her.
