Tsunami warnings have been issued after a strong earthquake struck the country’s most populous island, Java. The earthquake was measured as a 6.5 magnitude and at a depth of 91 kilometers.
Deaths have been reported by the local government. A tsunami warning was also issued for the Java coastline. Buildings are believed to have collapsed onto people. (source) 1:46 p.m. ET December 15, 2017
