Authorities in Georgia are searching for a toddler who was abducted on Friday in Spalding County.
A 2-year-old white female was abducted by her father Emit Hobbs, during a domestic dispute. Hobbs reportedly assaulted the child’s mother and abducted the child, running into the woods.
The Sheriff’s Office in Spalding County posted the following message to their Facebook page: “Highfalls Road area. Parental child abduction. 2 year old taken. Father struck the mother, grabbed child and ran into the woods. Deputies will be in the area. I will get more info as to exactl location and descriptions as soon as possible. Please share!
Update: the area of East Griffin Bapt Church and the Mill village area – suspect is a white male and is the child’s father, Emit Hobbs- the child is a 2 yr old white female.
Update: 7:56pm. The child was taken as a part of an ongoing domestic situation between the mother and father of the child. Deputies are in the area searching. The mother’s boyfriend Emmett Hobbs was last seen wearing jeans and no shirt. Bald head green/brown eyes 28 years of age. The child Anastasia Mercer is 19 months old and was wearing only a diaper and a Dora the Explorer blanket. Anyone having contact is asked to call 911.”
We have seen further description of both the child and the suspect. They are as follows: “The child, 19-month-old Anastasia Mercer, was wearing only a diaper and a Dora the Explorer blanket. Deputies said her father, Emmett Hobbs, 28, is described as being bald, with greenish-brown eyes. He was last seen wearing was last seen wearing jeans and no shirt. (source) 10:00 p.m. ET
The suspect is in custody and the child is safe, authorities say – 11 p.m. ET
