BREAKING: Major Power Outage in Cleveland, Ohio

A widespread power outage has been reported in Cleveland, Ohio, on the west side of the city.

It is currently 14F in Cleveland, but feels like -2F. Snow showers are expected into the night. (source) 6:15 p.m. ET December 26, 2017

Officials are unsure when power will be restored, there is no timetable yet. (source) 6:25 p.m. ET December 26, 2017

Cleveland Power say that they are still working to determine the cause of the outage. The fire at a substation has NOT been confirmed. (source) 6:37 p.m. ET December 26, 2017

The outage has now been confirmed as being caused by a fire and equipment failure. Around 40,000 people are without power. It will “take awhile” to restore power. (source) 7:10 p.m. ET December 26, 2017

Cleveland Power says that power has been restored to most of the west side, and that the rest of the power should be restored – 10:25 p.m. ET
