Health officials are warning any passengers who went through Newark Airport that they may have been exposed to a highly contagious disease.
On January 2nd, an international traveller was confirmed to have been carrying Measles through Terminal C, then departing for Indianapolis in a domestic terminal. They may have also gone to other parts of the airport. Symptoms could be seen as late as January 23rd.
Measles symptoms include rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. It can cause serious complications such as pneumonia, encephalitis (swelling of the brain,) and in pregnant women can lead to miscarriage, premature birth or a low-birth-weight baby.
Anyone who believes they may have been infected should contact New Jersey health officials through their doctor. (source) 5:18 p.m. ET January 13, 2018
