A crowd of thousands gathered on Sunday night to mourn the mudslide victims killed last week in Montecito, California. Four people are still missing and hundreds of buildings have been damaged or destroyed.

Heavy rains combined with burned out land left by December’s fires led to mudslides tearing homes from their foundations and closing U.S Highway 101 indefinitely..

The vigil on Sunday night at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse brought the community together to begin healing.

Mourners honored the memories of those lost, shared stories and promised to rebuild the community. One of the attendees said, “I don’t know when its going to be normal again.”  (source)
