Arizona Diamondbacks Outfielder Yasmany Tomás was arrested Thursday in Phoenix, Arizona, for going over 100 mph on the freeway.
He was allegedly going 105 mph on the border of Tempe and Mesa. He was not impaired at the time. He was then charged with criminal speeding and reckless driving. Tomás, a Cuban native, signed a 6-year contract with the team in 2014, worth almost $70 million.
“We are very disappointed to learn of this news,” a team spokesman said. “We are still gathering facts, and will refrain from further comment at this time as this is a pending legal matter.” (source) 6:25 p.m. ET January 18, 2018
