A statue commemorating the Star-Spangled banner was vandalized in Baltimore’s Patterson Park, with it being covered in red paint.

The vandals also wrote the words “Racist Anthem” in the front of the statue. The statue was made in 1914 after children collected pennies to construct it. The statue is very delicate and has now been turned over to historians to try and best determine a way to clean the statue without causing further damage. (source) 4:25 p.m. ET january 18, 2018
