Sen. Bob Corker has expressed a level of optimism that Senate leadership can reach a deal to avoid the government shutdown prior to tonight’s midnight eastern time deadline.
According to The Hill, the two sides are down to a difference of only days in how long they would want the government to be funded for, and both would fund the government past Trump’s state of the union speech.
