A major magnitude 8.2 earthquake has struck 175 miles southeast of Kodiak, Alaska, according to the USGS. The earthquake struck at 4:31 a.m. ET at a depth of about 12 miles.
A tsunami warning has been issued for the Gulf of Alaska, as well as Canada, and Washington. A tsunami watch has been issued for the area further down the pacific, including California.
