A report released on Wednesday detailed the 165 national security clearances that have been revoked after it was discovered that the people had various crimes or foreign influence.
The report goes on to show how the felons or compromised people may have been allowed into the system. The issue arose around a interim security clearance, which had a low threshold to be granted. One of the examples included a person who was granted the clearance despite having been found guilty of raping a child. The process for contractors to acquire this clearance is the same as for senior White House aides. (source) 3:43 p.m. ET January 24, 2018
