A 36-year-old worker at a store in New Jersey has been arrested after they stole a winner’s lottery ticket, worth $1 million, trying to pass it off as their own.

The winner came into the store looking to claim the winning scratch-off ticket, but the worker took the ticket, and instead of giving the claim form, gave him two other tickets, saying those were his winnings.

The worker’s wife then tried to claim the ticket, but officials became suspicious. He was arrested and charged with theft, money laundering, and conspiracy. The owner of the ticket has been given their winnings
