A Milwaukee woman could face up to 20 years in prison after her 14-year-old daughter died from an infection. Officers arrived at the family home after the girl was admitted to the hospital. They reported that the home was “very cold, very dirty and smelled of cat urine and human feces.” There was no running water and a five-gallon bucket was used as the restroom.
The mother, Aziyza Ababneh is facing charges of neglecting a child and causing her death. She did not give doctors permission to clear an infection on her daughter’s brain. The girl died a week later. The death has been ruled a homicide.
