A student at Southern New Hampshire University claims that she failed an assignment after her professor claimed that “Australia is a continent; not a country.”
The assignment was to compare cultural norms between the United States and another country. The student then sent a response to the grade, asking for it to be regarded, but the professor only sent back an email reaffirming that Australia was not a country. After this, the student decided to look up several sources to send her professor, such as the official about page for Australia.
After the incident, she filed a report with the university, who have since removed the professor from the post and offered the student to have her tuition covered.
