A Dutch pilot was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger’s refusal to stop farting caused a mid-air fight.
Transavia Airlines flight HV6902 was headed to Amsterdam from Dubai when the pilot told authorities that the passengers were on a rampage. He landed the plane in Vienna.
The source of the anger was an elderly man who was passing wind. He refused to stop when disturbed passengers asked him to. The pilot also became involved and asked the man to stop, but he again refused. That is when a fight broke out, forcing the pilot to land the plane.
Four people were escorted from the plane. One of the removed passengers, Nora Lachhab, told De Telegraaf that the crew didn’t do much to ease the situation. “It was crazy that we were included, we had no idea who these boys were, we just had the bad luck to be in the same row and we didn’t do anything,” she said.
All four passengers removed were given lifetime bans from Transavia Airlines.
It is not known if the farting man faced any disciplinary action.
