The House Ethics Committee is investigating Rep. John Duncan (R-TN), who has been in the House since 1988.

While the panel has not officially confirmed the reason for the investigation, “the Knoxville News Sentinel reported last year that Duncan’s campaign paid his son, John Duncan III, nearly $300,000 for years after the younger Duncan pleaded guilty to a felony charge of official misconduct. The Tennessee lawmaker denied wrongdoing and explained that he turned to his family for campaign work to cut costs compared to political professionals’ fees.”

Duncan is not running for reelection.
