Every public school in West Virginia is closed amid the massive teacher’s strike in the state.
A map put out by the state’s department of education shows that every single school on the list is closed. West Virginia employs more than 20,000 teachers for more than 277,000 students. The massive strike began last week, as teachers demand higher wages and better benefits for their jobs.
Governor Jim Justice has already signed a bill that will raise teachers’ wages, but the protesters say that this is not sufficient enough.
