Two northern Idaho officers have reportedly been shot in Bonner County and are en route to the hospital. Both deputies were from the Sandpoint Police Department.

Their condition is not known at this time.

The Sandpoint Police Department posted on social media warning residents in the Ridley Village area asking folks to stay inside due to heavy police presence.

City Administrator says one officer shot this morning is currently in surgery at Kootenai Medical Center. The other officer was transported to Bonner General Hospital.

Sandpoint police responded to a call at around 3:10 this morning at a Ridley Village residence, officials said. Officials said responding officers approached the reporting party. During contact, the suspect stepped out of the residence and began firing at officers. Officials said both officers on scene were struck.
