A man in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, United Kingdom, has been arrested after a video spread of his dog saluting to “Sieg Heil” and “gas the Jews.”

The clip, which was viewed more than 3 million times on YouTube, was found by police, who promptly arrested Mark Meechan, 30, for a hate crime. Meechan allegedly taught the actions to his girlfriend’s pug in an effort to “annoy” her. Sheriff Derek O’Carroll thought differently, saying that the video was “grossly offensive” and “anti-semitic and racist in nature.”
