A shopping center caught fire on Sunday in Russia’s city of Kemerovo, local emergency service said. “Four children corpses have been found in a nursery during the rescue operations,” the committee said. They later updated the information, saying that total of three children and one woman had died, while 26 people had been injured as result of the fire.
Russia’s Investigative Committee said that it had launched a criminal investigation into the case, adding that it’s looking into a certain number of victims.
“According to preliminary data, four people died including three children and a woman, who were in the children’s playroom when the fire erupted, and 26 people requested medical assistance or were sent to hospitals. At the same time, emergency services continue to combat fire and rescue people,”a spokeswoman for the Russian Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko said.
A source also said that at least 17 people have been missing. Kemerovo citizens have been using social networks to find the missing people.
