Facebook has admitted that they scan photos, links and text that you send through the Facebook Messenger platform in an effort Facebook says is designed to protect users from content that doesn’t abide by the site’s rules, according to reports.

Messages that have content that doesn’t abide by site rules will get blocked and not sent to the recipient.

Facebook says the monitoring is done mostly through an algorithm.
