8 police officers in Argentina have been fired after they claimed that mice ate half a ton of marijuana that was missing.

The disappearance was discovered during a routine inspection of a police warehouse for impounded drugs. 6,000 kilograms of marijuana had been stored in the facility for 2 years, but the newest inspection found nearly 600 kilograms missing.

When questioned, the officers told their superiors that mice had likely eaten the missing marijuana. After consulting with forensic experts, however, it was determined that it would be highly unlikely for the mice to mistake it for food, and if they had ingested that much, it was likely to find many more dead mice in the warehouse.
