Children at a preschool in Massachusetts have implemented a policy that prevents children from saying someone is their best friend.

Pentucket Workshop Preschool’s “best friend” policy has come under fire after a parent says her child came home upset, saying that she wasn’t allowed to say “best friend.” The teacher reportedly told the girl that the term couldn’t be used because it could make other children feel excluded.

The preschool has not commented on the policy.
