Passengers had to be evacuated from a smoky, shuddering train in Queens early Tuesday, officials and witnesses said.

A train bound for Manhattan near 39th Avenue in Long Island City began having trouble around 8 a.m. “Smoke coming from Manhattan bound W train at 39th Ave after car starting shaking and making loud vibrations,” wrote Alex L. on Twitter. “People have evacuated train.”
