Nearly 200 wild horses have been found dead and buried in mud on the Navajo Nation in northern Arizona.

The deaths are being blamed on drought and famine in the southwest. The area has been suffering from an overpopulation of feral horses, and the fight for resources likely led to the horses’ deaths. 191 in total were found in various states of decay.
