Vermont State Police confirm one person died in a plane crash in Bennington, Vermont.

Authorities say the plane first went missing Sunday afternoon. The wreckage of a small aircraft was found overnight in a remote area near Bald Mountain. Police say indications are that there was only one person on the plane, but they’re working to confirm that.

The search began Sunday after the FAA lost contact with the aircraft around 3:30 p.m. The FAA described the plane as a Piper PA-34. The search continues this morning.
