A crematorium accident sent smoke containing human ashes into the air in South San Diego County, California.

A furnace door was not properly closed during a cremation, causing the smoke and ash to spread into the air. The smoke, which contained human remains according to officials, spread over the area. Fire crews were called after fire extinguishers went off due to the smoke.

The crematorium was reopened later in the day.
