A U.S. Secret Service dog bit a woman outside the Amway Grand Hotel during Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to Grand Rapids Wednesday, Grand Rapids Police said.

GRPD said its officers rendered aid to the woman, who was bit on the leg, but is expected to be OK. A sergeant with GRPD did not know the woman’s condition but said the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. American Medical Response said its EMTs transported a dog bite victim from that area to a nearby hospital around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The circumstances surrounding the dog bite are unclear.
